The first thing that I plan to do along this journey toward wellness is get more sleep. I’m one of those people who “burn both ends of the candle”. I stay up late and I get up early. I’m tired most of the time. I just do not get enough sleep. I saw a story on 60 Minutes the other day about the importance of getting enough sleep. I’ll post the videos at the end of this message. Anyway, it stated that an adult needs at least 7 1/2-8hrs of sleep. When I think about 7 1/2-8 hours of sleep I think that’s just almost unbelievable that we need THAT MUCH SLEEP. That is 1/3 of our entire 24 hour day. Wow, 1/3 of the day sleeping away. That’s hard to fathom for a lot of us, thinking about that big of a chunk of our time where we aren’t doing anything. But, it’s important, and we’ll have more awake time down the road (in terms of more years alive) if we just get more now. So, I need to do it now. I didn’t do very well last night with that because I didn’t feel well, and we had some major thunderstorms going on so I was a bit scared to go to sleep during the tumultuous weather swirling outside. But, tonight I resolve to get at least that minimum 7 1/2 hours.
